The Proclamation

WE CALL UPON

WE CALL UPON responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society.

WE WARN

WE WARN that individuals who violate covenants of chastity, who abuse spouse or offspring, or who fail to fulfill family responsibilities will one day stand accountable before God. Further, we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets.

THE FAMILY

I am grateful for this guidance. Following this portion of The Proclamation has brought more joy to my life than I ever thought possible! My family is everything to me and I am so blessed to have this time with them!

True love requires reserving until after marriage the sharing of that affection which unlocks those sacred powers in that fountain of life.  When entered into worthily, this process combines the most exquisite and exalted physical, emotional, and spiritual feelings associated with the word love. That part of life has no equal, no counterpart, in all human experience. It will, when covenants are made and kept, last eternally…  (Boyd K Packer, The Plan of Happiness, April 2015)

THE FAMILY is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity. Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities. By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. Disability, death, or other circumstances may necessitate individual adaptation. Extended families should lend support when needed.

HUSBAND AND WIFE

This is something this world needs more of today! I believer there used to be more of it, but it is fading, and this is not a good thing.  As I have said before this is intended for ALL of mankind!

HUSBAND AND WIFE have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children. “Children are an heritage of the Lord” (Psalm 127:3). Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, and to teach them to love and serve one another, observe the commandments of God, and be law-abiding citizens wherever they live. Husbands and wives—mothers and fathers—will be held accountable before God for the discharge of these obligations.

WE DECLARE

Through the righteous exercise of this power, we may come close to our Father in Heaven and experience a fulness of joy, even godhood. The power of procreation is not an incidental part of the plan; it is the plan of happiness; it is the key to happiness. (Boyd K Packer, The Plan of Happiness, April 2015

WE DECLARE the means by which mortal life is created to be divinely appointed. We affirm the sanctity of life and of its importance in God’s eternal plan.

THE FIRST COMANDMENT

Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth…

Boyd K Packer said:The commandment to multiply and replenish the earth has never been rescinded. It is essential to the plan of redemption and is the source of human happiness.   (The Plan of Happiness April 2015)

THE FIRST COMMANDMENT that God gave to Adam and Eve pertained to their potential for parenthood as husband and wife. We declare that God’s commandment for His children to multiply and replenish the earth remains in force. We further declare that God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife.

IN THE PREMORTAL REALM

We all started in the same place and all of us here made the same choice in the beginning, allowing us to come here for this period of time.

Those who followed God kept their first estate, came to earth, and received bodies: Abr. 3:26;

To live forever as families in God’s presence  (D&C 132:19–20, 24, 55). Eternal life is God’s greatest gift to man.

IN THE PREMORTAL REALM, spirit sons and daughters knew and worshipped God as their Eternal Father and accepted His plan by which His children could obtain a physical body and gain earthly experience to progress toward perfection and ultimately realize their divine destiny as heirs of eternal life. The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave. Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally.

ALL HUMAN BEINGS

This proclamation is intended for every person that lives on the earth, male, female, adult, child, every nationality, every religion, every single person! It comes to you from your personal Creator, directly through His living profits.

"I testify from the bottom of my heart, with the intensity of my soul, to all who can hear my voice that those apostolic keys have been restored to the earth, and they are found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. To those who have not yet joined with us in this great final cause of Christ, we say, “Please come.”  Jeffry R Holland,The First Great Commandment  Oct 2012

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.  Genesis 1:27

ALL HUMAN BEINGS—male and female—are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premartal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.

WE THE FIRST PRESIDENCY

The Family a Proclamation to the World was delivered and read to world in an October General Releif Society meeting September 23, 1995 by President Gordon B Hinkley. He prefaced it with this:

“With so much of sophistry that is passed off as truth, with so much of deception concerning standards and values, with so much of allurement and enticement to take on the slow stain of the world, we have felt to warn and forewarn. In furtherance of this we of the First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles now issue a proclamation to the Church and to the world as a declaration and reaffirmation of standards, doctrines, and practices relative to the family which the prophets, seers, and revelators of this church have repeatedly stated throughout its history. I now take the opportunity of reading to you this proclamation”

WE, THE FIRST PRESIDENCY and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children.
